Paula Harrell

Paula Harrell is a Community Lending Officer with more than 20 years of experience in the mortgage and real estate finance industry. Born and raised in San Francisco and now based in Oakland, Paula has dedicated her career to helping individuals and families—particularly first-time homebuyers and those in historically underserved communities—navigate the path to homeownership. Her early background in property and asset management taught her the value of trust, communication, and strong client relationships, while founding and operating her own company, P. Harrell Wines, strengthened her expertise in entrepreneurship, financial planning, and community engagement.

At Columbia Bank, Paula serves as both a financial strategist and advocate for her clients. She works to demystify the lending process, offering clarity, education, and personalized guidance tailored to each client’s long-term goals. Known for her ability to connect deeply with people, Paula listens with intention and provides thoughtful strategies to overcome barriers such as credit challenges or down payment obstacles. She prioritizes empowerment, ensuring her clients feel confident, informed, and supported throughout their homeownership journey.

Community impact is central to Paula’s work and identity. She partners with local organizations to support housing education, financial literacy, and small business development, while also giving back through her wine company to nonprofits advancing youth mentorship, women and family safety, independent arts, and cultural storytelling—including co-founding the Oakland International Film Festival. Outside of work, Paula enjoys traveling, skiing, exploring art and culture, and spending meaningful time with family and friends.
